About Us
Report
Since our inception in 1986, the Door County Land Trust has worked to preserve, maintain and enhance lands that contribute significantly to the scenic beauty, open space, and ecological integrity of Door County.
In pursuit of this mission, we have earned a reputation as one of the Midwest's premier conservation organizations.
We have worked with scores of landowners to protect more than 8,500 acres of fields, forests, farmlands, orchards, wetlands and shoreline.
We are a local, non-profit, non-governmental organization supported by more than 2,200 supporters who love Door County and share a concern for its future.
How We Save Land
Report
The Land Trust works with landowners to purchase properties that possess exceptional scenic beauty or ecological significance.
We match donations from private individuals with dollars from Wisconsin's Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Fund, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and other organizations to fund land purchases.
We also accept outright donations of land and partial land donations, lands sold below appraised value, if the properties meet our land protection criteria.
Lands owned and managed by the Door County Land Trust are open to the public for many low-impact recreational and educational opportunities.

Hunting Program
Report
Door County Land Trust preserves accommodate a wide variety of public uses including hiking, canoeing, cross country skiing, scientific research and hunting.
In order to create a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors to our preserves, we ask hunters to review and comply with our hunting program rules.
Hunters play an important role as conservation partners with the Door County Land Trust by helping regulate and maintain the populations of white-tailed deer and turkeys.
The overabundance of these species negatively impacts ecosystem health on lands we protect.
